How old were you when you first knew you wanted to be a musician?

When I was 10, I watched a video of Jimmi Hendrix and thought, “I want to be like him one day”. Now, I’m on my way.

What’s the best thing you learned in Rock School?

Learning from our mentor, Ryan, that hard work pays off – Creating the band was his idea – that fronted the start of his Rock School, and without him, not only would we not be where we are today but the other 15 + bands that he has formed in our wake wouldn’t likely be playing either

What’s your favorite thing to do together as a band?

As a band during summer, we always get together and play a game called volleybonk, a mix of tennis and volleyball. As crazy as it sounds, this game really helped us get closer as a band.

What are you plans for after high school?

Ideally, I would love to continue pursuing music, but also I plan to go to college at Penn State and be an engineer.

How old were you when you first knew you wanted to be a musician?

I was 9 when I first got my Jr. Ludwig set. I was in third grade and for a writing assignment we had to say what our dream was and I said, “I want to be a rock star, ride in a limo and play drums upside down.” That is still my dream today.

Who is your favorite musical artist right now?

PVRIS. They have a cool sound and well written music.

How did the band get together?

Aside from Audra our singer, we have all been friends since elementary school. We all took lessons for our instruments so we thought why not start a band. Audra came in a few years later.

About the Band

Crazy things happen in life and music all the time and that’s exactly what happened to a group of 8-11 yr olds in 2009. It started for each individual by simply having a desire to learn an instrument – much like many at that age. Thanks to a mentor in Ryan Krysiak, who saw the potential of Bo, Chad, Charlie and Matthew, a band named First to Eleven (F211) was formed.

In the years since that unexpected beginning, this group of schoolmates has grown into a full-fledged rock band. The final piece of the puzzle being when Audra joined the original 4 members in 2013. Over the course of these past years F211 has released two 5 song EPs, and is hard at work on a third. They are playing out at many local venues and festivals while expanding their range of travel as they grow in notoriety. Along the way, they have shared the stage with Palisades, NonPoint, and Eyes Set to Kill.

The hard work is paying off as they have been honored to be named a finalist, in the Rock Band category, at the Rock Erie Music Awards in 2014 and winning the award in 2015. This followed on the heels of a victory at the 2015 Tri C Rock Off held at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Out of this win came a great invitation to play at the Rock Hall during the week of official festivities leading up to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony itself.

Behind the scenes other big things are brewing. Who knows? Maybe they’ll be coming to a venue near you soon!

As they say, crazy things can happen.
